Volleyball t
Nebraska volleyball coach Terry Pet
tit has announced the schedule for the
1985 Nebraska volleyball team. It will
include six home matches and a pair of
invitationals with nationally ranked
teams.
The nine time defending Big Eight
Conference Champion Huskers will
begin their season with a conference
home-opener, hosting the University of
Kansas at the Coliseum September 7 at
12:30 p.m., prior to the Nebraska-Florida
State football game.
Nebraska will continue its home
stand with a Sunday, September 8
match against Iowa at 2 p.m. and a 7:30
match with Nebraska-Omaha on Sep
tember 10, before traveling to the
Wyoming and San Jose Invitationals
the following two weekends.
On September 28 and 29, Nebraska
will host the first of two invitationals
featuring nationally ranked teams. The ball games.
Power Volleyball classic on Friday and
Saturday will bring together four of the
country's top teams in Nebraska, Oregon,
Brigham Young and Arizona.
The following weekend, Nebraska
will host the Husker Classic with Okla
homa, SW Missouri State and Hawaii in
a weekend format. Both invites will be
on home football weekends and the
volleyball matches will be played in the
morning and again following the foot-
Season tickets are available for all
Huskers games, including the invita
tional, at $15 for adults and $7 for stu
dents. Single match tickets are $3 and
$2.
Nebraska, which finished last sea
son at 29-4 and ranked fifth in the
nation, is returning three starters from
that championship team, including
Karen Dahlgren, Annie Adamczak and
Enid Schonewise. Five more letter
winners will be returning in Michelle
Smith, Sharon Kramer, Kathi DcBoer,
Jenny Goff and Laura Hurley. Tisha
Delaney, Michelle Stratbucker and Tina
Siefkes, red shirts last year, will give
Pettit a strong nucleus for this season.
Nebraska prep stars, Virginia Stahr,
Angie Millikin and Kenda Kuehner and
Springfield, Missouri standout Lori
Endicott will also join the squad.
