Friday, July 12, 1985 Page 8 The Nebraskan Washington concert benefits United Negro College Fund lk Saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr., Is set to perform Sunday, July 14th at 7:30 p.m. in the Omaha Orpheum Thea tre. Special guests will be the Phila delphia group, Pieces of a Dream. Washington is a student of classical music whose first love has always been jazz. He gained national attention with the release of his "Winelight" album and the hit single from that record, "Just The Two of Us." Both the LP and single won Grammy awards. Washington's sixteenth album, "In side Moves," shows his ability to com bine the better elements of pop, soul and jazz and transform them into his own unique form. The concert, sponsored by the Omaha Association of Black Journalists, is a benefit for the United Negro College Fund. Tickets are $15, $12.50 and $10 and on sale at the auditorium, Brandels, TIX, Leola's and Music Express. The event is being organized by Omaha city councilman Fred Conely, who has organized similar events in the past, including last year's Jeffrey Osborne benefit show, also for the Uni ted Negro College Fund. Conley said that after expenses for the concert, 80 percent of the profit will go to the college fund. L. .' iJ LIVE ENTERTAINMENT Bill's Saloon, 1020 P St. Satur day, Chris Sayre. No cover charge.
