endum meets voter approval at the
ASUN elections March 13.
CFA's most sigrificsnt cut on ASUN's
proposed budget was on conference
registration, costs, which were reduced
from $100 to $200. This money is allo
cated to defray the costs of regional
and national conference attendance.
In its subcommittee report, CFA
said ASUN had "no particular confer
ence In mind" before allocation requests
were made to support the $400 sum.
ASUN's budget increase is less than .
5 percent from last year, with signifi
cant increases in the salaries cf the
director of development, from $22,000
to $23,000; and in part-time attorney's
salary, from $2,800 to $4,200. The full
time attorney's salary will increase
from $22,C00 to $23,000.
ASUN President Mark Scudder said
he thinks the requested salaries match
the employees' contributions to ASUN.
If students approve ASUN's referen
dum to pay salaries to student execu
tives, next year's first and second vice
presidents will receive salaries of $223.
Nebraska law prohibits regents to
receive payment for their duties, there
fore next year's ASUN president will
not be eligible for a salary, since he is a
student regent.
