fenders around Minor, picked off
the pass and returned it to the
Iowa State six. Doug DeBose scor
ed on the next play, sliding around
the left end of the line untouched.
Hood, who had been shaken up
earlier and was still treating a
neck injury in the Cyclone locker
room shortly after the game, said
he didn't see Weber until the
defender stepped in front of Minor.
He attributed that to Nebraska's
ability to change coverages on
the Cyclone play-action-pass.
The touchdown came with 7
minutes left in the third quarter.
Iowa State, still unable to do any
thing offensively, stopped two Ne
braska possessions before Dave
Burke tumbled and recovered a
Thompson punt at the Husker 20
yard line.
The teams switched sides for
the last quarter, and on the first
play, Doug DeBose took a counter
sweep back over the middh for
an 80-yard touchdown run.
The Cyclones literally imploded
then, as Nebraska scored three
more touchdowns. Turner's sec
ond 1-yard scoring sneak was set
up by a leaping interception by
Dennis Watkins. Reeves intercep
tion off freshman reserve quar
terback Derek DeGenaro set up a
14-yard pass from Craig Sund
berg to Brian Hiemer. Nebraska
closed out the scoring on a Sund
berg lateral to Keith Jones. The
play covered 47 yards.

said he would like to have had
two plays Weber's intervention

Braswell, who earned national
defensive honors for his 19-tackle
performance against Oklahoma,
said Nebraska's offense finally
made its trickery pay off in the
final quarter.
"Oklahoma just came off the
ball and right at us. It wasn't so
hard to tell where they we're
going. Nebraska would run right
at us one play, then do some mis
direction stuff the next," he said.
