By Stuart Pospisil
Pally Nebraskan Senior Report r
Nebraska coach Tom Osborne
said Monday he docsnt know
what to believe concerning recent
statements made by Mike Rozier.
"I give up," Osborne told those
attending the weekly Extra Point
Club luncheon at the Miller and
Paine auditorium. "Sometime in
the future I hope hell drop in and
well have a little visit."
Osborne said he generally "goes
with what players tell me," but he
b uncertain about Rozier. He said
Rozier may end up playing pro
fessional football in Jacksonville,
Florida with the USFL Bulls.
Nebraska threw only 1 1 passes
in Saturday's 24-7 victory at
Colorado, Osborne said, because
' "we were trying to win the game."
Seventeen pass plays were called,
but because of audibles and sacks,
only 1 1 passes were attempted.
The Husker offense had three
scoring chances thwarted in the
first quarter with two fumbles
and a drive that stalled.
Osborne said by halftime, "Col
orado must have been thinking
that they could win, and I may
have been too."
Colorado scored its touchdown
when the Huskers blitzed quar
terback Steve Vogel, and he found
split end Loy Alexander for a 16
yard touchdown pass. "We quit
blitzing after the touchdown " Os
borne said, "and we still got
enough pressure on the quarter

Osborne said he w&3 pleased
with the offensive line, which

Running back Jeff Smith re
turned Saturday to gain 165yards
on 35 carries, one short of Rick
Berns' record set in a 35-31 loss
to Missouri in 1978. Smith only
practiced the equivalent of one
and a half days last week, Osborne
said, when "he seemed to be no
better than he had in the three
previous weeks. I don't think you
can say he was his old self, how
ever." Kansas State, Nebraska's oppo
nent Saturday at Memorial Sta
dium, is "always difficult to pre
pare for," Osborne said. "They
definitely always come up with
something different, and you can
bank on that."
Osborne said the Wildcats have
gone primarily to the Wish-bone
offense, which replaces their tra
ditional I-formation attack. Sixty
to 70 percent of Kansas State's
plays Saturday will be from the
wish-bone.
The running ability of quarter
back Stan Weber caused Kansas
State to change offenses, then he
suffered a partially collapsed lung
several game3 ago. Osborne said
Kansas State's two back-ups ran
the offense well at times in Satur
day's 61-21 rout by Missouri.

Colorado fans are an eyesore
to the Big Eight and to college
football.
Until recently, Nebraska fans
always seemed to be on the red
neck side of fan participation. It
is hard to be humble when you're
a Husker. I am more guilty than
most.
Colorado fans have no excuse.
There is nothing worse than' a
bad loser. Even though the Buffa
loes have had a few oft years with
the Huskers (16), I have never
seen an excess amount of cheap
shots or unsportsmanlike conduct
on the field.
The fans are entirely different.
Some Colorado 'fans made a
Husker dummy with a crude slo
gan and gave it to the team mas-
cot to carry around during the
game.
The Colorado fans not only
coach their own teams, they walk
around to the visiting side and
give players and fans commentary.
According to Boulder police,
more than one arrest was made
at the game and police constantly
were directing fans to their seats.
Some CU fans threw empty
bottles at the visiting team's play
ers. Once a bottle was thrown on
the field during a kick-eft In the
third quarter, a snowball was
thrown during a Nebraska punt,
falling just short of the punter
right after the snap. .
Hard to believe you say? here
were the police, you say? Well,
they were watching the game.
Colorado was actually in the lead
for most of the game. It may
never happen again, so nobody
was going to miss it
After Nebraska had secured a
commanding lead in the fourth
quarter, a ght broke cut between
some Colorado and Nebraska fans.
I do not deny that the Nebraska,
fan may have started the fight; I
cidnt see it What I did see was

police carrying the Nebraska fan
from the stands, marching him
immediately in front of the CU
student section.
While the crowd pelted the Ne
braska fan with rocks and gar
bage, the police learned a lesson.
One officer was splashed with
beer, and some nachos hit the
flight jacket of another.
Who is the victim in this case?
The police used poor judgment,
but it was probably the fastest
way out. They didnt want to miss
anymore of the game than nec
essary. In Friday's edition of the Colo

there was an article called, "I
hate Nebraska Fans."
The story complimented Ne
braska a couple of times. It said
Lincoln has nice city limits and
Nebraska only looked nice from
36,000 feet.
Mike OTCeefTe, Colorado Daily
sports writer, said Colorado hates
Nebraska because the Huskers
always win.
"Boulder is a snob city and we
have our nose in the air dealing
with the Midwest," OKeefe said
I call on Nebraska fans of all
neck colors to put on your red
leisure suits and come to support
your team.
