Twas the night before the debate
and all through the electorate...
n honor of the upcoming pol

Twas the night before Monday
when all thru the land,
there was great anticipation
for matters at hand.
The antennas were set
on the TVs with care,
in hopes that a TV show
soon would be there.
The people were nestled
all snug and well seated,
while the visions of TV-land
once more were repeated.
And soft drink3 in hand
and show guides in lap,
we all settled down
for more of this pap.
When up on the TV
there arose such a clatter,
we sprang from our seats
to see what was the matter.
Away to the TV
we flew like a flash,
to see if something good
would be shown last.
The decor of the set
on this new-looking show,
gave a luster of hope

to viewers at home.
When what to our wondering
eyes should appear,
but candidates espousing
the same crap from past years.
With a little old president
so lively and quick?
Facing the Democrats choice,
front runner Fritz.
More rapid than eagles
the counters they came,
and they battled and shouted
and played the "votes" game.
Now Mondale! Now Reagan!
Like Carter and Nixon,
on foreign affairs
and the president's mission.
To soma of the press
to back of the nail,
to the audience at home
it's all the squalL
So out to the houses
the causes they flew,
with a parcel of promises
and "good intentions" too.
But I heard us exclaim
at the end of the night,
whichever we vote for
well have the same plight.
