The first event was a Big Wheels rr.rt far kids that consisted nf rid. j ing one lap around a track a city block in lengin. The other races were ridden on a larger track that bean on K street at the north entrance of the capitol. It proceeded south on 17th to H; II to 1 5th; 1 5th to G; G to 14th and 14th to K. The event was sponsored by the Lin coln JournalStar Printing Com pany and KHAT 100 FM radio station with Deluxe Bicycles, Lawlor's Sporting Goods, Cycle Works, Mr. Bike and K & Z Dis tributors. Winners and their categories: WOMEN 18 to 24 years, 5 laps: Lisa Bump - first, Rosina Paolini -second, Hollie Wieland - third. MEN 18 to 24 years, 5 laps: Rob Frank - first, Thomas W. Price -second, Jerry Milburn - third. WOMEN 25 to 34 years, 5 laps: Dolores Dold - first. Barb Rezny - second, Carol Rig3 - third. MEN 35 and over, 5 laps: Moe Borge -first, Carl Wolff - second, Frank Fowler Jr. - third. The event also included two USCF races. The first was. for S 4s, Juniors, Women and Veterans. Once a member of the USCF a rider tries to advance his cate gory status. A new member is an S-4 and can progress to S-3 by placing first, second or third in three races or first through sixth in six races during a season (June to October). Winners in this 35 lap race are as follows: WOMEN: Heidi Iratcabal (onlv entrant) First. VETERANS: James May first, Leroy Cheney second, Gene Moninger third. JUNIORS: Scott Moniger first, Dan Wendlin second, Joe McWilliams third. The final race for the S-2s and S-3s included a rider from Chile. Ricardo Lobos, who r ecently was ranked 44th in the Olympics and I eighth in his nation was doing I well until he lost five laps due to a c fiat rear tire.
