Nebraska's volleyball team
, moved up from no. 7 to no. 5 this
week in the Collegiate Volleyball
Coaches Association poll released
Tuesday.
The Huskers, 2-0, were ranked
no. 5 in the California-based
Tachihara poll at the start of the
season. The top-five ranking in
the CVCA poll may be the highest
any team east of the Rocky Moun
tains ha3 ever been rated, women's
sports information director Terry
Beek said.
Pacific remained at No. 1 , while
seven Husker opponents also
made the top 20. No. 17 Louisi
ana State and no. 18 Northwest
ern will play in the Husker Classic
to be held this weekend in Lincoln.
In other volleyball news, senior
outside hitter Julie Hermann was
named Big Eight Player of the
Week. Hermann had 34 kills over
her first two matches, two service
aces, 13 digs and two blocking
assists. She is the top hitter in the
conference so far with a .620 kill
percentage, while averaging 5.7
kills per game.
