With a bit of imagination and a little cash, students can either build, rent or buy the decorative and functional items it takes to give their living spaces new warmth and vitality. Students, who live in 16 feet by 14 feet rooms, need decorative space savers. Residence hall stu dents often use bunk or loft beds to yield more open floor space. Carpet, a large throw rug or carpet squares can add a new comfort to the tiled residence hall floors. And careful shopping can yield new carpet at reasona ble prices. Lincolnland Carpet Co., 211 S. 84th St., offers a discount on remnants and red tag specials for students. Prices range from $25 to $1 50, manager Kathy Kush ner said. Carpet may keep the floor warm, but to cool your soda, a rented refrigerator might be the answer. Students can rent or buy a sms.ll refrigerator. 2 cubic feet. 3 V4 cubic feet or 5 cubic feet, from P the University Housmg Depart ment, through the Campus Equip ment Company. The refrigerators are rented out for one or two semesters.
