Ooze North defeats South Shrine Bowls have a history of being low scoring end Saturday's game was no exception. The North defeated the South 14-0, thanks mainly to tu movers that kept the South from cashing in on several scor ing chances. Trie South had three fumbles and an interception actually one less than the North but the South chose very inopportune times to play giveaway. The South was driving for a touchdown early in the second quarter when Keith Jones of Omaha Central fumbled at the North's 25-yard line. North quarterback Ross Els of Lincoln Northeast High School returned the favor on the next play as he threw an interception to Anthony VVhalls of Omaha's VVestside High School. The South was in business once again, but not for long. Jones once again fumbled, this time losing the ball fit the North 21. The big play on the drive was a 42-yard run by Kevin 'trospcr, also of Grand Island. The South had one more good chance to score when they recovered a fumble at the North 1 4. They moved it from there to the two where they had first and goal but the going was tough from there. Two running plays netted only a yard arid quarterback John Dostal fumbled on the next play. The North scored their last touchdown in the third quarter after Tim Knust of Creighton prep picked off a pass and returned it to the South six yard line. That turnover quickly led to a score as Omaha Burke's Elton Edmond scored from the three. Looking tor meaningful work? But when it works, such as in the work of Daumier, Goya, Jack Levine, and even Piccsso, (is Guernica "pretty?), it is never afraid to show it like it is. Don't get me wrong. This group is obviously dedi cated, and the Eleventh Street Gallery is cool, as always, to provide them a space to exhibit. I just wish the Dear Madamcs had emphasized better the ugliness of the topic, instead of the beauty of their artistic techniques. Their topic isn't a pretty picture, but the show is mostly made up cf them. It shouldn't go without saying that Nena Shank's woodcarving "Raspberry on Plinth" is splendid and my choice for best ol show, and Kebecca Koss' oil "We Want No Prophets In This Place" bona level with her best work, which is a pretty nice level. The show hangs through Aug. 19. f3 GOVERNMENT JOBS $16 51)9 - $50,55 Jyeur Now Hiring Your Area 1-805-687-6000 Ext.
