With the nation's attention focused on ABCs
coverage of the Olympics, there b one major
concern that has most of Nebraska in a sweat:
Will the Olympics be playing during "All My
Children," "General Hospital," and "One Life To
Live?"
Yes, and no. The soaps will be running, but in
condensed 40 minute segments, according to
Doug Parrott, evening assignment editor at KETV.
Also, Donahue will be making it's regularly
scheduled program. The KETV nightly news will
be delayed until 11:00 p.m., unless a major
sporting event is still in progress, at which time
the news will immediately follow the event.
KETV (Channel 7ABC affiliate) will also be
covering the Olympics with nightly reports from
John Knicely and eight live interveiws with Neb
raska athletes during the 5 p.m. report.
Daily coverage of the Olympics begins Friday
at 8 p.m. with a sneak preview of the hoopla to
come. Then Saturday at 6:30 until 10 p.m. cov
erage of the opening ceremonies will fee '
broadcast.
Sunday begins the all day coverage that you
will probably see until the Olympics end Aug.
12. The broadcasts will begin at 10:30 a.m. until
1 1:00 p.m. with an hour break at 5 p.m. for the
local and world news.
Monday begins a regular schedule for the
week with Olympics coverage 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(then a break for the soaps), 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., 6
p.m. to 1 1 p.m. and then after a break for news,
ABC will recap the day's events from 1 1 :30 p.m. to
1 am.
