Times lean for hogs Low profits are the major reson for the mar ket decline of hegs accord ing to a UNL professor. Al Wcilman, an agrictil ture economics professor, said the current econom ic situation forces raany fcrmers to reduce the num ber of their pigs to en affordable level Because of the low num ber of hogs, Wellman said he expects to see pork prices rise in the near future. Statistician Dennis John son of the Nebraska Crop and Livestock Reporting Service said he agreed with Wellman that hog production is in the dec lining phase.
