Foundation Garden is a picturesque little place, full of flowers, trees, benches and fountains. Nice at any time, Foundation Garden is especially popular on Wednesdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. Fine Arts when it is the setting for a summer concert series sponsored by the Lincoln Center Association. Wednesday's concert features Nancy Marshall & Jazz Friends. Nancy has played for the Foundation Garden concerts before. This year she will be joined by five university students from a small ensemble class they are taking together. Jazz Friends consists of Dayle Cooper, drums; Chris Hartung, guitar; Pat Halderman, saxophone; Jim Kimball, trumpet; and Steve Gomez, bass. Nancy Marshall & Jazz Friends will be followed by a children's singing group from Southwood Academy and the Beatty Bunch from Rural Beatty School. Sheldon Art Gallery currently is showing several interesting exhibits. A collection of photographs by Hal Holoun captures the subtle beauty of Nebraska landscapes. A small sculpture display by Dan Para gine decorates the hall by the gift store. American Abstract Expressionist Painting from the Blaffer Foundation Collection is on display in the upstairs gallery. The photographs and small sculpture dis plays will be up until Sunday. The collection of abstract paintings will be shown through July 29. The pottery of Jerry Kessler currently is being featured at the Haymarket Art Gallery, 119 S. 9th St. A native of Mitchell, S.D., Kessler now lives and produces pottery in the Loess Hills of Monona County, Iowa. Kessler's goal is to make functional ware as brilliant, rich and exuberant as possible. Anyone who is interested in the arts in Nebraska might want to attend a discussion between Norman Geske and Leonard Thiessen today at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room at Bennett Martin Public Library. Geske, director emeritus of the University of Neb raska Art Galleries, will interview Thiessen, first Director of the Nebraska Arts Council and long-time activist in the arts and literature in Nebraska.
