' Another problem, Longacre said, Is
that some professors give the same
tests semester after semester, which
can have good and bad consequences, ,
he said. Once, a geography professor
gave the same test for four consecutive
semesters, then changed it. Longacre
said most of the people who took the
test did poorly because they had ex
pected to take the sme test
"If you're going to rely on just the test
to get you through, there is a lot of
danger involved," he said.
I layman also said students will lose
if they use the exam file as their only
study tool. .
"Students should use exam files only
as an emergency situation," I layman
sid. "It is designed for people who get
into binds or if a student didn't get a
chance to study."
I layman said signs will be posted in
Selleck that say the exam file is not
intended to be a substitute for studying.
Jantzi said she thinks the exam file
is good, but using it for cheating will
not help students. Also, she said exam
files should not be criticized, because
professors use the same tests.
"If the professor doesn't want a stu
dent to use the same test, he shouldn't
make up the same tests," she said.
"Sooner or later, the student h going to
catch on to what's happening regard
less of if there i ? an exam file."
UNli Housing Director Doug Zatechka
scld he vr.s not aw? re of the new exam
file at Selleck, and said that while he is
not sure the exam file violates UNL
policy, he does not like it. '
"If this violates university policy,
housing is not going to be a part of it,"
Zatechka said.
The housing director said that none
of the Selleck rcsidentsxontacted him
about starting an exam file, and he is
going to investigate the matter.
Hayman said he assumed that if
UNL Greek houses used exam files
they were within UNL policy. And, he
said that current Selleck president
Kevin Rogers suggested that residence
students work together through the
Residence Hall Association to combine
and organize exams.
"With a little more time, we believe
that we can have an exam file as good
as some of the Greek houses I layman
said.
