ASUN debates need
to amend constitution
ASUN Wednesday approved an amendment to
Organic Act One which the ASUN president said will
eliminate unnecessary committees and add neces
sary functions to present committees.
Mark Scudder said the career planning and place
ment program and the campus clean-up program
were assigned to committees to make sure they are
continued.
The Senate also discussed the need for amending
ASUNs constitution. Marlcnc BeyI.e, ASUN director
of development, said the requirement calling for at
least one-third of the student body to vote on any
constitutional amendment has prevented change in
the constitution. UNO has taken its student govern
ment constitution to the NU Board of Regents to
solve the same problem, Bcyke said. .
Arts and Sciences Sen. Joel Ita was elected ASUN
parliamentarian at the meeting. Arts and Sciences
Sen. Clark Osborne was elected ASUN speaker.
From the same college, Laura Harvey was selected
sergeant-at-arms.
