Live! From downtown Lincoln, it's
Bad Comedy Night!
Now in its seventh week, Bad Comedy
Night, a weekly event at Patoot's Saloon,
808 P St., packs in a full crowd.
And Rollin' Ray, Craig Anton and the
Baker Boys are there every Thursday
night to fill your evening with laughter.
One particularly funny routine at
Bad Comedy Night could be called,
"Mr. Microphone and the Street Revue."
The masters of ceremonies and one or
two of the performers take Mr. Micro
phone out on the street and interview
passers-by, or catch a few quick state
ments from unsuspecting drivers.
Everyone on the inside can hear
what's going on, but unsuspecting side
walkers have no idea what's up.
Mark Patton, one of the masters of
ceremonies, and fellow Patoot's em
ployee, Keith Larsen, came up with the
idea and presented it to their manage
ment. "We wanted to see some different
comedy in Lincoln. We felt there were
better places, physically, to do comedy
in Lincoln, than what was being done,"
Patton said.
The Zoo only does this once a month,
but we go every week," Patton said.
"We have been pulling away a lot of
Thursday night business from other
bars in Lincoln," Larsen said.
Bad Comedy Night has a $2 cover
charge, a relatively low price as far as
entertainment covers go.
"We try to provide what the public
wants," Patton said.
Since the comedy night started a
month and a half ago, a respectable
crowd of regulars has developed, Patton
said.
The atmosphere is different than at
other bars. The crowd seems to be very
friendly and to know each other. Comfor
table laughter fills the air as comedians
proceed with their routines. Comments,
jokes, and catcalls are offered non
stop by customers, and they are even
encouraged. At Bad Comedy Night,
everyone seems to get in the act.
