Tennis...
Continued from Pco 11
"But, we could give them a run at some positions.
If we win some points from them in this match we
would feel real good about that second place finish "
Hawkins said that dual competition counts to
ward half of the total points won during the Dig
Eight tournament, so each match in each meet is
important.
Because of the off and on weather, Hawkins said
she has not been able to get the squad outdoors to
practice much this spring.
"I think we will have a slight advantage if the
match is moved indoors," Hawkins said. "Both of the
Oklahoma schools have been able to get outside a
lot."

"But if we do have to go outside, I don't think it will
hurt us. We've adjusted well all year, and we've had
to do it enough so that we're used to it now."
After this weekend, the Huskers will have a three
match series in Kansas against Wichita State, Kan
sas and Kansas State before the Big Eight tourna
ment April 24 and 25 in Kansas City, Mo.
Last year, the Huskers advanced only one player
to the finals of the tournament and still managed to
beat out five teams (Missouri does not field a
women's tennis team). This year, Hawkins said she
and the team expect to do better.
"We've got better depth now than we had last
season," Hawkins said. "But the big difference now is
that this team believes they can win."
