At the banquet Sunday, Stephanie Sanford, a senior from Wichita State University, Wichita, Ks., was named student speaker of the year. Sanford has competed in college-level forensics for four years, Kay said. Her concen tration has been in public speaking, he said. . The student speaker is chosen by a committee of two faculty members and three DSR-TKA officers, said Shaun McGee, assistant director of forensics at Wayne State University and a member of the selection com mittee. The decision is based on involve ment and success in forensics compe tition, scholastic record and commune ity services which show that the stu dent uses speech sldlb cutdie cf compet-. ition, McGee said.
