League spokeswoman Alison Jameson said the deadline for registration is Saturday. Registration cost $20. Jameson said the money goes to groom the fields and pay offi cials. Jameson stressed the heed for interested individuals to contact the office by this week end so they could divide , players into teams and practice once before the -season begins. The league is open to all women, regardless of experience. No one under -18 will be permitted to play, but there is no up per age limit. Jameson said there is one woman registered who is over 50. Games are played on Sunday on fields at the Lincoln Air Park. The sea son runs from March 18 to May 20. Volunteer coaches run the teams. Last year, Neb raska basketball Coach Kelly Hill was a coach, Jameson said. Jameson said the league is a real sociable group and everyone usually gets together somewhere after the game. Nebraska senior guard Kelli Benson was named to the third team academ ic All-American team yes terday by the NCAA. Benson has a 3.78 grade point average in physical education. The 5-7 form er all-state player from Grand Island has had three consecutive 4.0 sem esters. With the honor, Ben son became the first Neb raska women's athelete to earn academic Ail American status. Team mate Cathy Owen joined Benson on the Big Eight academic team this sea son. Benson has played in 116 consecutive games for the Buskers, and has averaged 7.7 points per game and 3.1 rebounds a game this season. She has the record for season shoot ing percentage (58.7), and . can break that this sea son with a current shoot ing percentage of 59,2 per cent.
