Prof. Everett Rogers of the Institute for Com
munications Research in Pdo Alto, Calit, will be
et UNL Thursday. Rogers will present two semin
ars on communication processes.
Rogers' presentations are geared especially for
educators. He is internationally known for his ,
research cn how people adopt new ideas. Rogers
has devoted his career to the study of the
, adoption-diffusion process of new concepts, lie
has written or co-authored 12 books cn the sub
ject. One of his first books, "Dillusion of Innova
tions, is a classic in the theory of communications
-and mass communications. .
Rogers will speak twice Thursday. Seminar' 1 is ' '
at 10 am. in the Great Plains Room, at the East
union, ine topic is lfce New Information Tech
nology and Its Impact on Society."
Seminar 2 will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Great
Plains Room. Rogers will explain his theories on
"How People Adopt New Ideas
Rogers is being brought to Nebraska by the NU
Extension and Service Council, the Cooperative
Extension Service, and the Agribusiness Pro
gram, which i3 jointly sponsored by the UNL Col
' lege of Business Administration and the College
of Agriculture. Other cooperating groups include
the School of Journalism, the Division of Continu
ing Studies, the Department of Agricultural Com--j
munications, UNL Marketing Department, Div-
ision of Adult Education, Nebraska State Depart
ment of Education and Southeast Community
