The forum previously was scheduled for Nov. 29,
but was postponed due to weather conditions.
Professors in history, political science and military
strategy ' will discuss the invasion. A question

A petition proposing a &00-perxnonth increase
in state senators' salaries v.as presented to the
ASUN senate during. its open forum Wednesday
evening, . '
UNL student Troy Lair told the senate that legis
lators are now paid $4,&00 annually. The petition
proposes to increase that to $ 10,200 a year or $000 a
month. The raise would cost the state $231,000 to
additional salary expenditures each year. '
The senators' last pay lncrcie came in 1CC3. The
cost of living has increased 274 percent since then,
Lair said, adding that Nebraska's legators remain
amona the lowest paid in the country.
The petition is sponsored by the Coalition for Fair
Compensation, which includes the Nebraska Demo
cratic and Republican parties, the i::l:a:l:a Educa
tion Association, the Nebraska AI L-CIO and other
special Interest groups. , ,
Lair said he believes ASUN can Imp educate the
' student body and help secure eoess cf the 64,700
signatures required to put the amendment on next
springs election ballot - ,
