The break down in funding is as fol lows: - Rugby $850 - Soccer $875 - Crew $875 - Table Tennis $280 - Bower Lifting - Boxing $250 - Rifle Club $620 - Water Polo $375 None of the commit tees reviewing the recrea tion department budget, including the regents, had any qualms with the small increase in the bud get, Campbell said. The recreation depart ment's budget is $234,836 for campus recreation prprograms, ac cording to Dean of Stu dents David Decoster. Campbell said the role of the recreation depart ment is to fulfill the recreational needs of students. However, $5,000 cer tainly won't cover all the costs incured by the clubs, he said. It can only supplement money raised by club dues, per sonal expense and fund raisers. Several clubs did not join the sports council, including the water ski, snow ski, rodeo or bowling clubs. These clubs may join in the future, Campbell said. He said he hopes the budget can.be increased next year to include new clubs.
