8 Thursday, April 28, 1983 Summer in the City n sua mm f scifiioou em by CHUCK JAGODA Although all the figures won't be in until after general registration, Robert Patterson, director of summer ses sions at UNL, expects increased enrollment again this summer. Patterson said enrollment has increased each summer for at least the last seven years. Current pre-registration figures indicate a heavy demand for this summer's ses sions, which begin with the three-week pre-session May 16 to June 3. Pre-session registration is Friday, May" 13. The first five-week session runs from June 6 to July 8. Registration is Thursday and Friday, June 2 and 3. The second five-week session is from July 1 1 to August 12. Registration is July 8. The eight-week session is from May 16 to July 8. Registration is May 13. THE NEBRASKA REPERTORY THEATRE also expects no drop in attendance during the summer, despite the fact that fewer students will be on campus. "Our attendance stays about the same. We do quite well," said Pat Overton, manager for the Nebraska Re pertory Theatre. "The plays are selected with a broader audience in mind, and our advertising is aimed at a general aodience, including the state of Nebraska and tourists. In addition, there seems to be a Nebraska Repertory Theatre audience who attend only in the summer." Nebraska Repertory Theatre will present a bill of comedies and music this summer. The season includes an original work by a UNL graduate, and an opera co produced with the UNL School of Music. "The Good Doctor," adapted from the short stories of Anton Chekhov, will be presented in the Temple studio theater June 23, 24, 29, 30; July 8, 16, 20, 23, 25,28 and August 1,6,8 and 10. "Godspell" will be presented in Howell Theater July 7, 9, 21, 22, 26, 27 and August 1,6, 8, and 10. THE ORIGINAL WORK, "Exit Don Juan," by Alan Nielsen, a 1977 UNL theater department MA graduate, will also be a Howell Theater presentation. It will be seen July 14, 15, 18, 19, 29, 30, August 3,4, 12 and 13. The opera "The Marriage of Fiagro," by Mozart will be presented in Kimball recital hall June 25, 26, July 1 and 7. The Sheldon Film Theater will present three series in its summer schedule. In June and July the films of Wim Wenders, a German filmmaker, and Nicholas Ray, an American, will be shown concurrently. In August, there will be four films by the French comedian Jacques Tati, who died in December. The Wenders films, presented on Tuesdays and Wed nesdays, are "The Wrong Move," "King of the Road," "American Friend," "Lighting Over Water," and "The State of Things". (U) The Nicholas Ray films, presented on Fridays, Satur days, and Sundays will be "They Live by Night," "In a Lonely Place," "The Lusty Men," "Johnny Guitar," "Rebel Without a Cause," "Bigger Than Life," "Bitter Victory," "Party Girl," and "The Savage Innocence." The Tati series will be presented on Thursdays, Fri days, Saturdays, Sundays and includes "Jour de Fete," "Mr.' Hulot's Holiday," "Mon Oncle," and "Playtime." There will be a $3 general admission charge to all films, 52 for senior citizens, children and members of the Friends of Sheldon Film Theater. Dan Ladely, director of Sheldon Film Theater, says attendance usually does not decrease in the summer. Summer attendance has averaged 4,000 to 5,000 for the last two or three summers, which is comparable to the school year, Ladely said.
