Daily Ncbrscksn y rr Daily A I 15 Wednesday, April 27, 1883 Continued from Page 4 Carter suggests that Love could close the stacks as a solution to the problem. This would be an admission that the university cannot be creative in changing condit ions so as to prevent assaults and instead must close off a major portion of the library to all -- users and abusers alike. University women are, in fact, proposing a number of changes within Love library and the university. These are explained in more detail on the petitions currently cir culating. Suggested changes include better lighting, more security guards, emergency phones and alarm systems, standardized reporting of assaults and harassment, avail ability of such information to the university community and prosecution of all assaults to the full extent of the law. Whether Love Library is currently safer or less safe for women than other campus locations, it is a unique, basic university (and community) resource which women must be able to use with security and pleasure.
