"Union City" is reminiscent of the "film noir" genre
of the 1940s and '50s, with blinking neon lights radiating
through dusty Venetian blinds, casting shadows around
the dark and drab apartment and adding color and a
subtle sense of humor. Claustrophobia is felt as we view
Harlan in his tiny accounting office, concocting his
revenge for the milk thief, who has been leaving them half
a bottle of milk for several mornings now. Hie red tint
lighting during apartment scenes and at the bar
