Note
The Canadian Brass will play to a
sold-out house tonight at Kimball Hall.
Their performance here is supported by a
fund made available to the NU Foundation
by Viola Jclinek as a memorial to her
father, Stephen.
The Canadian Brass is made up of five
classically trained musicians: Frederic Mills
and Ronald Romm (trumpets), Graeme
Page (french horn), Eugene Watts (trom
bone) and Charles Daellenbach (tuba).
The box office has started a waiting
list for the performance. Anyone who has
tickets they cannot use or who would
like to be placed on the list should call the
box office at 472-3375.
The concluding concert of the Lincoln
Friends of Chamber Music Series will be
an all-Brahms conceit by Audun Ravnan,
Kari Ravnan and Ida Levin Friday at
8 pjn. in the Sheldon Art Gallery audi
torium .
Violinist Levin performed as a soloist
with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra
last fall.
Tickets will be available at the door on
a space-available basis after regular sub
scribers have been seated. Prices are S6,
S4.S0 for students.
Spanish -American fiction. His talk is free
and open to the public.
John S. Brushwood, will lecture on
Gabriel Garcia Marqucz, the 1982 Nobel
Prize winner for literature, in the Sheldon
auditorium Thursday at 7 pjn.
Brushwood, the Roy A. Roberts Pro
fessor of Latin American Fiction at the
University of Kansas, specialized in
Mexican literature and 20th-century
Mueller Planetarium is celebrating its
25th anniversary with a science fiction film
festival beginning Saturday.
Films to be shown include "Star Wars,"
"The Day The Earth Stood Still," "War
of the Worlds," "Just Imagine" and
"Creeping Terror."
All showings are $1 and will be in
Morrill Hall Auditorium. For a complete
schedule, contact the planetarium.
