Members of the Alpha Tau Omega and Delta Upsilon fraternities and the Chi Omega and Alpha Omicron Pi sororities are expected to abstain from drinking alcohol this week. Ihe week, which began Saturday night at mid night, ends at midnight March 5. GreBehm of ATO. a junior majoring m electrical engineering, is chairman of the project. "Our purpose is to heighten the awareness of the drink ing problem on campus." Behm said. Patti McManus. a sophomore social science major, is leading Chi Omega's efforts in the project. . "This will show people that college kids can have fun without drinking " McManus said. "Several activities are planned for the week, Behm said. uuke tngci, an alcohol counselor at Lincoln General Hospital, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Nebraska Union. A roller skating party is planned for Thursday. The week will culminate with an all-university dance Saturday from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. in the Nebraska Union's Centen nial Room. Admission is 52. Proceeds from the dance szo into a "Week on the Wagon fund" at ATO. Money from the fund will be made available to social service organizations for alcohol aware ness projects, Behm said. If a member of ATO is C3iight drinking during the week, he will be fined $50, Behm said. A check of the other three houses revealed fines of .550 at Delta Upsilon. M0 at Alpha Omicron Pi and $5 at Chi Omega. Thyse contacted said they didn't anticipate violations. Coca-Cola, Pabst Blue Ribbon and KFMQ are helping to sponsor the week's activities. !
