The 1983 Residence Hall Association
elections on March 9 will limit the pos
sibility of reaching new goals for the
semester, but the pre-election producti
vity of RHA should be high with work
on previously set goals, said Melba Petrie,
RHA president.
Plans for the semester's first meeting
Thursday are to work toward approving
the study on housing rates, which will
predict cost per student for residence
halls for the fall semester of 1983, Petrie
said. The Office of University Housing
approved and presented tills study to
RHA.
If RHA does not approve the study,
the housing office and RHA must solve
their differences before the study can go
to the NU Board of Regents for approval.
Petrie said she wants to establish a task
force to pull together studies on alcohol

These studies, Petrie said, will help
determine what is best for residence hall
alcohol policy and enforcement of rules.
Joint ASUN Senate and RHA elections
already have been approved by RHA
and are being considered by the senate.
By having joint elections, RHA would
use ASUN's ballot counting system and
receive help from the League of Women
Voters during elections. Hie major change
would be the establishment of an ASUN
polling place in Selleck Quadrangle, she
said.
Finding a solution to the problem of
housing for foreign students during breaks
also will be on RHA's schedule, she said.
The nuclear waste shipment issue is
a continuing concern of RHA because the
proposed shipment would be carried on
the railroad tracks near the Harper-Sch-ramm-Smith
Residence Halls, she said.
The UNL Police Department received
the following calls and complaints from
7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
