KINO OP OEER&t MESS? CIO Union Board limits contingency fund By Ward Triplett The Nebraska Union Board voted 7-1 Wednesday night to recommend a $100,000 maximum on the contingency fund, which is used primarily for major equipment re placement. The main purpose for setting the maximum is to keep the Committee for Fees Allocation from counting the fund as part of the unions' regular budget. The recommendation calls for the board to review the amount in the contingency fund on Oct. 31 of every year. If the fund is below $100,000, the board will then budget enough money to bring the contingency fund back up to $100,000. Union Director Daryl Swanson said the fund currently has $115,000 and that both he and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Richard Armstrong would liked to have seen the fund's maximum set at $150,000. In other business Wednesday, the board sampled pizzas made by the union food service staff. Swanson said the possibility of opening a pizza service in the union has been discussed for about a year and recently, the union has received two requests from private pizza operations to open a service in the building. Wednesday, food service Director Ron Pushcar provided three pizzas made by his staff and three pizzas made by a company from David City for the board to compare.' The David City company markets three kinds of frozen pizzas and had expressed an interest to establish a retail outlet in the union. . In other union business, Brian Wacker announced that a new Whirl-a-Whip flavor, called E.T., will be installed shortly. The flavor is made from Reese's Pieces candy. The Bakery's Sunday weekend service will be dis continued after the Oklahoma football game. The Bakery is making only an average of $35 a weekend. The board approved several changes in its bylaws, including a provision that will make the Residence Hall Association and Interfraternity Council representation on the planning committee optional. Another bylaw change will remove University Program Council mem bers from any union board committee. The board decided to continue offering coffee and tea for 10 cents during finals week and to allow the Red Cross reduced room rates for their blood drive. ZJC-D PROBLEM: You're out of cash.
