With an opening-season exhibition game against the
University of Windsor less than two weeks away,
Nebraska basketball Coach Moe Iba said he doesn't
have any idea who will be in the starting lineup.
"At this point, everybody has an opportunity to
start," Iba, who is entering his third full season as
head coach, said. Although there has been a tremen
dous amount of competition for the starting spots,
he said, no player has been consistently impressive
in practice.
Iba said he has been impressed with the progress of
Eric Williams. Williams, a 6-2 guard who played for
the Huskers his freshman and sophomore years, is
rebounding from a leg injury that forced him to
sit through a redshirt year last season.

"He is gaining his speed," Iba said, "and I'm pleased
with the way he has come off the surgery." He added
that the team is free of injuries.
The Husker seniors have provided leadership for
the team, Iba said. Greg Downing, Lenard Johnson,
Claude Renfro, Terry Smith and Kenny Walton work
hard in practices, he said, and set a good example
for the younger players.
Iba said the Huskers are not executing well on
offense or defense, which concerns him. Less defensive
progress has been made this year than last year at
this time, he said.
Iba said practices have been difficult to evaluate.
The team is trying to put what was stressed in practice
into actual playing situations, he said.
