As a UNL student, a" citizen of the United States and a member of the human race, I did not find the Delta Sigma Phis' Homecoming display "sickening and frightening." I cannot believe that the "Tylenol display" was meant as a direct mockery to the seven people who died after taking the medicine. Granted, the theme may have been in "bad taste," but I don't feel it deserved the sinful recognition that it received. Other displays depicted football players strangling or stomping on cats - isn't this sickening? Yet we permit mockery of cruelty to animals. People die every day. We will all die someday. This is not to say that every one of our lives shouldn't be cherished and lived to the fullest. But if we were to dwell on all the crazy people who go around murdering, raping, and poisoning innocent people, our lives would be one large "headache" from the panic and fear that we could be next in line. It's unfortunate that the Delta Sigs didn't think a little more about the people they were offending, but let's remember that they are all students of UNL, citi zens of some country and human beings as well. Just because they found humor in something others didn't, should that make people angry, sick and frightened? Sick humor is everywhere . . . just turn on your tele vision. Let's worry more about finding and condemning the person who is contaminating the Tylenol and not those who are just as innocent and vulnerable as the seven people who died as a result of it. Sheila Hyland junior, broadcasting Newspaper commended I enjoyed the rememberances of Homecomings past, reading the Oct. 20 Daily Nebraskan article on Homecom ing. We need to see where we are, and, indeed, where we are going. As a non-traditional student on the UNL campus, I appreciated the reporter's providing an oppor tunity for reflection. I also appreciated her thorough research. I also want to say "police report" is a fine addition to the Daily Nebraskan. I feel the newspaper had much to do with stopping the rash of purse and billfold "snatchings" on campus. Students need to be kept informed of what is happening around them. The Daily Nebnskan staff is doing a great job. Keep it up - we're depending on you. .
