Osborne acknowledged that the defense bent, but
didn't break, against K-State, which gained 124 yards
rushing and 131 passing.
Although it was speculated that the Wildcats would
come out throwing, trying to exploit Nebrska's pass
defense, K-State threw only three passes in the first
quarter. Osborne said he wasn't surprised that K-State
ran so often.
The Wildcats' only touchdown came on a 27-yard
drive after Mitch Krenk's third-quarter fumble.
Rozier's two scores, as well as touchdowns by Doug
Wilkening (3-yard run), Williams (2-yard pass from
GUI), Jeff Smith (19-yard run) and Bruce Mathison
(5-yard run) helped offset the turnovers.
Osborne said the Huskers emerged from the game
with fewer injuries then usual.
Bret Clark and Rozier suffered hip pointers, but
both should recover quickly, Osborne said. Defensive
tackle Doug Herrmann should be ready for the
Missouri game this Saturday after recovering from knee
surgery, and wingback Irving Fryar should be at almost
100 percent after sitting out two games with an ankle
injury, Osborne said.
