Sometimes the courses you WANT to take and the courses
you NEED to take don't fit into the schedule you HAVE to
take. When that happens, it's time to look for alternatives. And
when it comes to alternatives, the UNL Division of Continuing
Studies can help.
One way the Division helps is by offering Telecourses,
which appear on the Nebraska Educational Television Network
(NETV) weekends, and on CduCable throughout the week.
Telecourses available this semester are:
"Making it Count (Computer Science 103s)." a two credit
hour introduction to computing. This class acquaints students
with hardware and software fundamentals, computer
languages, programming logic and more. Tuition is $72 ($30
noncredit); materials cost $2850; it appears on NETV 8:30
9:30 a.m. beginning Saturday, Sept. 4, and repeats Sunday
10-11 a.m.
"Personal Finance and Money Management (Finance
260s)," a three credit hour course on the basics of budgeting
and buying, the intricacies of home ownership, income tax and
investments, the wise use of insurance, wills and trusts, and
more. Tuition is $108 ($30 noncredit); materials cost $35.50;
it appears on NETV 9:30-10:30 a.m. starting Saturday, Sept.
4; repeats Sundays 1 1 a.m.-noon.
"Persona! Time Management," a noncredit class in how to
better manage time. Topics include setting priorities, delegat
ing, handling trivia, scheduling your own and others' time, and
much more. No tuition fee; materials cost $33.50; it appears
on NETV 8:30-9 a.m. beginning Saturday, Sept. 4, and repeats
Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30-9 ajm.
"Writer's Workshop," a noncredit series of 15 half -hour
programs featuring some of contemporary literature's major
talent in both fiction and non-fiction. A $75 tuition fee in
cludes writing critiques and instruction; materials cost $26; it
appears on NETV 10:30-11 a.m. starting Saturday, Sept. 4; re
peats noon-12:30 p.m. Sunday on NETV.
"Flexible Reading," a noncredit course to help you do your
challenging college reading faster AND smarter. This course
teaches different speeds, methods and strategies for the differ
ent kinds of materials you read. No tuition fee; materials cost
$33.50; it appears on NETV 8-8:30 a.m. starting Saturday.

campus. You can preview this year's Telecourses from 8 a.m.
