Firm assessing health center's future
University Health Center Administrator Steve Blom ex
plained the project schedule of Cfii Systems, Inc., the
health center's consulting company at Wednesday's Health
Center Student Advisory Board meeting.
Blom said the firm completed interviews with all health
center department heads and the medical staff, as wall as
.i meeting with university chancellors, in order to assess
the needs of the health center.
The next stage for the firm is to define the role, mis
sion and future programs of the health center, he said. A
planning committee, which has representatives from all
over campus, will act as an adviser for the company, Blom
said.
"Probably within four or five weeks we should hear
any major recommendations of the firm," he said.

Blom encouraged student board members to
with the consulting firm about suggestions they may have
regarding what health center services they would like to
see offered in the next five years.
In other business, board chairperson Mike Grier said
Tuesday was the deadline for student insurance policy
bids. Three insurance companies submitted bids for the
plan, he said.
The proposed cost per year for each company's policy
is; Mutual of Omaha, $ 1 60-$ 1 65; Alexander and Alexan
der, $!26-$l35; and Keystone, $160-$178. Grier said the
bids would be analyzed Thursday to determine which po.
icy was the most economical when exemptions and claims
policies were considered.
The board plans to have summer meetings but has not
set a time yet. Grier said he hopes to organize an alcohol
awareness program during the summer.
The grievance policy also will be considered during the
summer to determine where the board wants to get invol
ved in the process. Blom suggested the board make a list
ing of office numbers and names telling students where to
go with certain problems.
The board also plans to examine the process of board
member selection.
