Thursday, April 8, 1982 Daily Nebraskan Page 7 if 1982 Summer Reading Course Program University of Nebraska-Lincoln Division of Continuing Studies Spring Meetings April 12-23 The UNL Division of Continuing Studies is offering the program of Summer Read ing credit courses which are listed below. To participate in the Summer Reading Program, attend the spring meetings of the courses in which you are interested. Register for the course(s) you wish to take during the summer and complete the course work required by the instructor (meetings, conferences, papers, tests, etc.) in the fall. Grades will be recorded in October. PROCEDURES-RULES-DATES-DEADLINES I. SPRING MEETINGS (Attendance is essential for maximum understanding of course objectives) - attend several different course meetings to be informed of a variety of opportunities - "permit to register" cards will be issued by some instructors when attend ance at a spring meeting is mandatory - enrollment in each course will be limited II. GUIDELINES FOR APPROVAL - Approval: Discuss your course selection with your advisor so you will be sure it fits into your degree program. For example: Arts and Sciences students have a limit of 30 hours of Summer Reading Course and cor respondence hours that will apply toward a degree. Architecture students need written approval to register for a Summer Reading Course. Therefore, you need to check with your college's requirements before registering for a Summer Reading Course. - Maximum of Two only two reading courses can be taken in one summer. Any exception will require the written approval of your advisor andor the dean of your college. III. REGISTRATION ONLY AT THE DIVISION OF CONTINUING STUDIES Where:Rm. 251 Nebraska Center for Continuing Studies When: Opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26 Closes at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 7 Late Registration: with written permission of the instructor (and payment of a $10.00 late fee) is possible until Friday, June 4, 1982. No SRC registrations will be possible after that date. Special Evening Registration Where: Rm. 251 Nebraska Center - for Continuing Education (North Wing), 33rd & Holdrege When: Thursday, April 29, 1982 from 5:00 7:00 p.m. Cost: Full Payment of Tuition is Required at Time of Registration Tuition: $32.00 per credit hour Books: Course Materials - Be sure to obtain all needed books and supplies in May. Bookstores will carry the required materials under the summer reading course number so look for an SRC "x" designation. IV. GRADING RESTRUCTIONS Grades of "W" and "I": There will be no grades of "W" or "I" given for SRC "x" classes. If work is not complete so your instructor can meet the October 8, 1982 grade submission deadline, no grade will be filed by your instructor and your registration will be cancelled. In this case no records for this course will be entered on your grade transcript. Therefore, the course must be completed and graded by October 8, 1982 if you are to get credit for your 1982 Summer Reading Course. PassNo Pass: You must mark the registration form "PN" for each course taken under this option. Regular PN rules of your college will apply. Note: Some courses have specific PN restrictions. V. GRADE REPORTING Completion Dates: Required work should be completed by the deadline established by your instructor. Final Fall contact with instructors will occur in September (nature of this contact will vary depending on the course). Grades will be recorded by instructors on October 8, 1982. Process all changes in SRC registrations at the Registration Office of the Division of Continuing Studies (Rm. 271 Nebraska Center for Continuing Education, 33rd and Holdrege, 68583-0900). VI. REFUND SCHEDULE (1) Full Refund - if the Drop notification is filed in person or by letter at the Division of Continuing Studies before 4:30 p.m., Friday, June 4, 1982. ($10.00 Administrative Fee Charged) (2) 75 Refund - will be given if the Drop notification is filed in person or by letter at the Division of Continuing Studies between June 7 -July 2, 1982. ($10.00 Administrative Fee Charged) (3) 50 Refund - will be given if the Drop notification is filed in person or by letter at the Division of Continuing Studies between July 5 and July 30, 1982. ($10.00 Administrative Fee Charged) (4) No Refund - there will be no refund if the Drop notification is filed in person or by letter at the Division of Continuing Studies after Friday, July 30, 1982. NOTE: A DROP Must be processed through the Division on Continuing Studies before July 30 if any refund is to be issued. May be filed IN PERSON AT, OR BY LETTER TO, the Division of of Continuing Studies, 271 Nebraska Center for Continuing Education 33rd and Holdrege, 68583-0900).- Unless otherwise noted, regular PN registrations are possible.
