T friday, december 11, 1 981 daily nebraskan page 7 Administrators react to Mockler's donation Two UNL administrators commented on ASUN stu dent Regent Rick Mockler's donation of Orange Bowl expense money for the UNL band. At a Wednesday press conference, Mockler donat ed part of liis food, travel and hotel expense money to the UNL band to help with the band's travel costs to the Orange Bowl. Mockler's donation consisted of a $460 check and hotel ex pense savings of $366, leav ing Mockler with $424 left for the Miami 1rip. Vice Chancellor of Stu dent Affairs John Strong said he is tentatively going to Miami. "I think as the reaction has generally gone, it was a very generous act on his part. It is from that stand point very commendable," Strong said. Strong would not com ment on whether he would donate any of his expense money to the band, or whether there will be any donations by other admini strators to the band. "I just have to say I have not been involved in any discussions," he said. Vice Chancellor of Stu dent Affairs Richard Arm strong said he respected Mockler's judgment. "I think we simply will have to go through a process of reviewing it as he did," Armstrong said. But he added that many factors that affected Mockler's decision may not affect the administration. Armstrong said that Mockler's being a peer of band members is a factor that will not affect the administrator's decis ions. Armstrong, along with Chief justice here Dec. 16 Warren Burger, chief just ice of the U.S. Supreme Court, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in Kimball Recital Hall. Health center ends semester of student care The University Health Center will close at 4 p.m. Dec. 23, in compliance with the university holiday close down. There will be no medical or telephone ser vises in the health center building, said Steve Blom, health center administrator. Students are responsible for all health services and bills incurred during the holiday closedown. Student fees do not cover any health services between Dec. 23, and Jan. 4. Students who become acutely ill or suffer in juries during the closedown should report to the nearest hospital emergency room. The health center will resume regular clinic hours Jan. 4, 1982. Students whose problems are not acute should wait until Jan. 4 and schedule appoint ments with the health center. his wife, is planning to travel with the administrat ive party. He said he has not taken part in the allotment of Orange Bowl travel funds. When asked if he might give up some of his allotted expense money, Armstrong said he would not be making any decisions that would be contrary to his colleagues. "These are the kinds of things that arc fringe bene fits associated with levels of responsibility," Armstrong said. He said this kind of fringe benefit is typical of other universities, and he believes it is justified. People who disagree with the idea have a right to voice their opposition, he said. Manager cautions against ad Daily Nebraskan Advertising Manager Art Small warns students that an ad for Calvin Klein jeans may have been placed by a questionable company. The ad, which ran Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, offered Calvin Klein jeans for $25 through a Wholesale Jeans, Inc., mail order firm in St. Louis, Mo. The ad said orders would be accepted through Dec. 4. Small said he received a complaint from one UNL student who said he received an order, but the jeans were the wrong size and appeared to have been worn before. Small said the student tried to contact Whole sale Jeans, but discovered there was no listing for such a company in St. Louis. Small said the St. Louis Postal Inspector, L.T. Brooks, applied for a court order Dec. 3 to hold the company's mail, but the order has not yet been approv ed. A spokesperson for the St. Louis Better Business Bureau told Small they had received similar compalints about that company, and another which advertises Levi's for $5, and they are putting out an alert against the companies. Wholesale Jeans wrote the Daily Nebraskan a check for the advertisements, but the account had been closed before payment was made. Small said there is no listing of the person who signed the check in St. Louis.
