NETV slates holiday shows
i You may be one of the selected and
: chosen few college students who will have
time to begin to celebrate Christmas
4 through the television. The Nebraska Edu
, cational Television Network is providing a
month-long Christmas package for their
viewers, made up of programs appealing to
a variety of viewers.
A New England Christmas, journeys in
to a Currier and Ives past, Dec. 16 at 7
. p.m., and Christmas Day at 1 1 p.m.
A Touch of the Renaissance at Christ
. mas, presents a look at Christmas customs
. Dec. 23 at 1 1 a.m.
Traditionally, Christmas has been a holi-
day celebrated in part through music and
! NliTV will present this in its programming.
UNL's orchestra and chorus will per
; form works of Mozart, Stravinsky and
lloneggcr, in a live concert from Kimball
; Recital Hall, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. and C'hrist
; mas Day at 2 p.m.
.1 Christmas Carol at Ford's Theatre,
will feature special effects and puppet
characters, Dec. 19 at 4:30 p.m. and
' Christmas Day at 8 p.m.
V The Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra and
; vocal soloist Adrienne Twarck-Cryta will

'i a.m. and Dec. 23 at 1 1 p.m.
The Mormon Youth Symphony and
t Chorus will perform a concert, "Caroling,
Caroling," Dec. 23 at 10 a.m.

the Christmas classics Dec. 23 at 10:30

I The Houston Harps Hnsemble will pre
sent Christmas Festival of Harps, Dec. 23
at 11:30 p.m.
Internationally acclaimed opera singer
Luciano Pavarotti will present a program
from the Notre Dame Cathedral in Mon
treal, Dec. 23 at H p.m. and Christmas Day
at 1 p.m.
Christmas Concert of the St. Olaf Choir
will be presented Dec. 24 at 1 p.m.
The Christmas Songs, with Mel Torme
and Les Brown with his Band of Renown,
will present classic, popular and religious
traditions of the holiday season, Dec. 24 at
2 pjii. and Christmas Day at 8:30 a.m.
From Rcgcnsberg, West Germany, The
Bach Christmas Oratorio will be presented
Dec. 24 at 8 p.m.
Christmas at Perm State will present
scenes of rural winter, enhanced by music,
Christmas Day at 8 a.m.
The Utah Oratorio Society, members of
the Utah Symphony and guest soloists per
from Handel's Messiah, Christmas Day at
1 1 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Several dramatic features will also be
presented on NtiTV.
Holidays . . . I follow Days, written by a
convicted murderer, talks about the iron
ies of the Christmas season as perceived by
prison inmates, Dec. 15 at 11 p.m.
Christmas Snows, Christmas Winds,
traces one man's Christmas memories, Dec.
21 at 7 p.m.
A Christmas Carol, will be presented
Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. and Christmas Day at 10
a.m., featuring Professor Harold Shiffler
of Hastings College, as he conjures up the
images of each of the characters.
