monday, novembcr 2, 1981 daily nebraskan page 1 1 We came to win . . . Continued from Page 10 Fambrough had praise for Nebraska quarterback Turner Gill and said he was re lieved Gill wasn't hurt on a second quarter late hit by strong safety Tim Friess that re suited in a roughing the passer call. "If it was roughing on our part, I apologize. I certainly don't feel it was in tentional. I'm just gald he didn't get hurt" Fambrough said. "It was really unfortunate. He was bouncing back into me," Freiss said. "If I could have avoided it at all, I would have." KU will play at Iowa State next week and close out the season with home games against Colorado and Missouri. Seurer said he hopes the Jayhawks can pick up enough momentum to finish the year 8-3. Our offensive units are really coming around. We had a lot of problems earlier but things are starting to come around really well now," Seurer said. "I am real confident we can come out on top of our next three games." "We can win all three games. That's the attitude we're going to take. We don't want to come close, we want to win" Lawrence said. ' Huskers top Jayhawks . . . Continued from Page 10 Faced with the possibility of losing to the Jayhawks for the first time in 13 years, the Huskers began to move the ball. Eight ronning plays moved Nebraska to the Kansas 17, and when Turner Gill hit Jamie Williams for a touchdown and a 24-15 lead, Nebraska fans began to breathe easier. After the game, Osborne said Kansas gained momentum early by driving on Ne braska the first series of the game. "The early part of the game is critical," he said. They got the momentum, and we didn't really play well on offense or defense in the first half. "They moved the ball up and down the field on us," Osborne said. "They were much better up front than they were last year, and they controlled the line of scrim mage on offense in the first half." Osborne was concerned about his offense's lack of production in the first half, and in particular the offensive line, which Osborne said was beaten at times in the early going. "Basically, we just didn't block," he said. The Huskers gained only 99 yards rushing in the first half, and quarterback Turner Gill often found opposing players breathing down his throat when he dropped back to throw the ball. Husker offensive linemen seemed con fused about why Kansas' pass rush was so effective. "I really don't know what the problem was," tackle Randy Theiss said. "We just got beat man-to-man at times, I guess. Their linemen were big and pretty good." Theiss said the Jayhawk defense had been underrated. "Nobody but Oklahoma has scored much on them," he said. "But still, we weren't coming off the ball that good in the first half." Center Dave Rimington said Missouri (last week) was able to bother Gill all day with blitzes, but he said he could not say why KU's pass rush often succeeded in getting to Gill as he threw the ball. With road games at Oklahoma State and Oklahoma and a home game with Iowa State left on the schedule, Osborne said he feels like the Huskers could be heading into a stretch comparable to the Iowa, Florida State and Penn State game that led off the year. "If we don't play any better than we did today, we'll probably lose the next three games," he said. sfe shorts Students who drew numbers one through 871 in the student ticket lottery for the Nebraska-Oklahoma football game can pick up their tickets Tuesday through Thursday at the Athletic Ticket Office, South Stadium 117.
