Several career management fields, or job categories, have been identified as "critical skills' by the Department of the Army. The career fields are: infantry, combat en gineer, field artillery, air defense artillery, armor, communications, medical and military police. People enlisting in these career fields and meeting other criteria will receive a $2,000 bonus. The bonus is limit ed to new enlistees with no prior service. Many units in the Nebraska Army Nat ional Guard are authorized to pay a $1,500 federal enlistment bonus to persons who enlist to fill an authorized unit vacancy. Now, in the jobs identified as "critical skills," the person would receive the 52,000 bonus instead. According to officials at National Guard Headquarters in Lincoln, the new bonus will be retroactive to Oct. 1, 1981. People desiring information about the new bonus should contact their nearest Army National Guard Armory, or Army National Guard Recruiter.
