East Campus building
celebrates anniversary
The Nebraska Center for Continuing Education, 33rd
and Holdrege streets, is celebrating its 20th anniversary
Sunday with an open house from noon to 5 pjn.
The center, home of the UNL Division of Continuing
Studies, is a gathering site for persons attending continu
ing education conferences, workshops and classes. Its
Lincoln Dining Room, which is open to the public, is a
meeting place for university and community members.
The center was built in 1961 at a cost of $3 million.
The Kellogg Foundation donated $13 million of that
amount, and the other $13 million came from matching
funds raised by Nebraskans.
The center's services now reach across the country and
around the world through classes and meetings which
draw international figures to Lincoln.
Tours through the center's rooms and explanations of
its many functions will be given during the open house.
Refreshments will be served.
