The orchestra is acclaimed for its technical polish artistic excellence and its work as a superb ensemble Jerzy Maksymiuk, who also founded the ensemble, is a fine pianist and composer. He won first prize at the Pader ewski Piano Competition and second prize at the G Fitelberg Composers Competition in 1970. He was con ductor of the Polish National Radio Orchestra for a period of four years ending in 1979. The program for the 3 p.m. performance at Kimball Hall will be Rossini's "Sonata in quattro No. 1 in G Major;" StachowskiY "Divertimento;" "Concerto for Tw2 and strin Orchestra in A Major, Opus 3, No. 5, P. 212 ' by Vivaldi, and Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for String Orchestra in C Major, Opus 43. The program for the 8 p.m. performance will be "Con certo Grosso in F Major, Opus 6, No. 9" by Handel; Haydn's "Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in C Major; Rossini's "Sonata a quattro No. 6 in D Major, and Dvorak's "Serenade for String Orchestra in E Major, Opus 22 . The performances by the Polish Chamber Orchestra are supported by a fund made available to the University of Nebraska Foundation by Viola Jelinek as a memorial to her father, Stephen Jelinek.
