Health fund drive
accepts donations
to help agencies

Health Agency Fund Drive, said Greg Clayton, UNL
manager of the Department of Insured Benefits and
Retirement Personnel and Risk Management.
CHAD is held annually among commerce and indus
try to help the 1 1 participating health agencies elimi
nate disease. It was started in 1971 to replace several
independent drives by individual agencies, Clayton
said.
The funds received during the drive are used for re
search, Clayton said.
UNL is participating in the fund drive by solicita
ting UNL employees to contribute to the fund
through mailings, he said.

contributions are sent directly to the CHAD office,
Clayton said. The benefits office will receive the results
of the drive after it ends Oct. 2.
Many of the funds receiveu Dy UIAD remain in Ne
braska in the form of research grants awarded to the
NU Medical Center and the Creighton University Medi
cal Center by the individual health agencies, Clayton
said.
The agencies involved in CHAD are the Nebraska
Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation; the Nebraska
Society to Prevent Blindness; the United Cerebral Pal
sy of Nebraska; the American Lung Association of Ne
braska; American Diabetes Association, Nebraska Af
filiate; the Easter Seals Society of Nebraska; the Ne
braska Epilepsy League; the American Heart Associa
tion; the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Nebraska Chap
ter; and the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Nebraska Chapter.
