The film is as powerful as
the reality, starkly haunting
in its closeness to the sub
ject matter. But there is no
screaming voice, of radical
ism behind it, only what
seems to be the steady voice
of irrepressible reason.
This is the hardest voice
for England to listen to and
yet it is a voice that will not
be quieted, a voice demand
ing to be heard and not pat
ronized as it has been. It has
spoken clearly for 300 years
and, one feels from watch
ing this film, it will speak
for another 300 years if it is
not heard.
