"The new infield will be the second best
facility in the Big Eight," Conradt said.

With the reality of a new diamond, six
returning lettermen and six new scholar
ship athletes, Conradt looks for a stronger
team this year. Returning pitchers include
junior Rhonda Reveile and sophomore
Sandy Wolterman. Other returning stand
outs are junior Kelly Erisman and junior
Deanne Carr.
Conradt said she was not sure who
would catch for the Huskers, but new
comer Ann Wegmann, a transfer athlete
from Ellsworth Community Coflege in
Iowa, could be a possibility.
The Ilusker schedule is different from
past year's, in that more tournaments will
be played rather than double-headers. The
Huskers will open Sept. 11 through 12 at
the Oklahoma Tournament in Norman.
From there, they play in the Iowa State
Tournament Sept. 18 through 19, the
Husker Invitational Sept. 25 through 27 at
Ballard Field, the University of Minnesota
Tournament Oct. 2 through 3, and win
finish the fall season at the Creighton
Tournament Oct. 10 through 11.
Conradt looks at Creighton, Iowa State,
Kansas, and Missouri as the teams to beat
for a go at the NCAA Championships in
the spring.
This will be the first year that any Ne
braska women's teams win have the chance
to participate in the NCAA Champion
ships. In the past, they have been a
member of the Association for Inter
collegiate Athletics for Women.
Letters of intent signed
by nine women athletes
Nebraska women's swimming coach Ray
Huppert has announced the signing of nine
athletes to letters of intent for the 1981-82
season at UNL.
"The newly recruited talent added to
last year's outstanding individuals will pro
vide the strength and balance we need-to
finish high in our conference and continue
scoring in national competition," Huppert
said.
"I am pleased with the out-of-state re
cruits and excited about working with the
Nebraska walk-ons," he said.
UNL's recruits are:
Elisabeth Brudvik, a scholarship athlete
from Hamar, Norway. Brudvik wiU
compete in the distance freestyle races. She
is a Norwegian record holder in the 800
meter freestyle with a time of 9:04.1 and
the 1500-meter freestyle with a time of
17:18.2.
Patty DiBiase, a waik-on from Omaha
Westside High School. She will compete in
the buggerfly and the individual medley
events.
Kellie Keown, a scholarship winner
from Omaha Burke High School. She was
voted the outstanding female swimmer at
the 1980 state high school meet and was a
high school honorable mention All-Ameri-can
in the 100-meter butterfly. Keown will
compete in the butterfly and freestyle
events at Nebraska.

Jane Meier, a scholarship athlete from
Billings, Mont. Meier was named the out
standing athlete at the Montana state
championships last season and was a high
school All-American in 1978. She wiU
compete in the freestyle, butterfly and in
dividual medley.
Lori Pike, a scholarship winner from
Cherry Hill, N.J. Pike qualified for the
junior nationals in the breaststroke last
year and was a member of New Jersey's
state championship teams in 1978 and
1980. The honorable mention All-American
will participate in the breastroke and
freestyle events.
Tamara Sullivan, a scholarship winner
from Cedar Falls, Iowa. She will compete
in the backstroke, individual medley and
freestyle events. She is the sister of Renee
Sullivan, a junior on the Husker team, and
is the holder of Iowa's all-time high school
record in the 200-meter individual medley
and the 100-meter backstroke. Sullivan
also won those two events at the Iowa state
meet in 1978, 1979 and 1980.
Wendy Ward, a walk-on from Sunny
vale, Calif. She will compete in the distance
freestyle events.
Vicky Wilcox, a walk-on from Omaha
Tech High School who will participate in
the backstroke and individual medley.
