"I consider this an unnecessary risk to take, and per
sonally will not adhere to it until such time that the ad
ministration comes up with a safe, workable plan of its
own.
Students favoring the continuation of coed bathrooms
say that if the university does not back down, the
students will have no other choice than civil disobedience.
They will use the same bathrooms regardless of what the
administration orders.
Harvey Ashman, 18, a leader in the drive to keep coed
bathrooms, said this is the first political action he has ever
taken.
"On something like El Salvador, I don't see where we
could make much of an impact," Ashman said. "But this
is different. This is an issue that directly affects us right
where we live."
