Lynch wins RHA run-off election

Independent candidate Robin Lynch is the new Resi
dence Hall Association president, after receiving 61 .9 per
cent of the votes cast in the run-off election Wednesday
and Thursday.
Lynch defeated X Party candidate Bill Flack, who re
ceived 38.1 percent of the vote. The total vote count was
486 to 299.
Steve Rowc of the X Party defeated Tom Macdissi of
the CARL Party by 10 votes in the vice presidential race.
Rowc received 50.7 percent of the vote to Macdissi's
49.3 percent. The total count was 387 to 377.
Vicki Wagner of the CLASS Party was elected secretary
over CARL Party candidate Chris Little, by a vote of 414
to 319.
Wagner received 56.5 percent of the vote, and Little
received 43.5 percent.
The polls reopened Thursday in both Abel-Sandoz
Complex and Neihardt Hall because of misunderstandings
there Wednesday, said Sue MacDonald, former RHA
secretary.
In Abel-Sandoz, she said, the polls did not open up
in time, and in Neihardt, many residents were denied the
right to vote because the poll workers were unaware that
they had rosters for Neihardt residents.
Before going out of town Wednesday night. Lynch said
she was surprised at the margin by which she won.
"The 61 percent I received gives me a mandate," she
said, "and one of the first things I'd like to do is make
April RHA Awareness Month, to tell people what RHA
is."
