page 2 daily nebraskan friday, january 30, 1981 Gateway Bank union branch may leave campus By Ward W. Triplett HI Concern was voiced at the last Union Board meeting that Gateway Bank's Nebraska Union branch may be moving off campus in the spring. Union Director Daryl Swanson said Gateway will be a bidder for its space again in April, but bank officials are asking tor more room, which Swanson said was improbable at this time, and an auto bank facility. "Their current location is hard to beat, and they admit that," Swanson said. "But any further action on an auto bank would be more of an institutional decision than a union decision. The board's most significant resolution at the meeting was the approval of the University Program Council's budget for the upcoming fiscal year. After getting union approval, UPC, which sponsors most speaker and minority affairs programs, presented the budget to the Committee for Fees Allocation for approval Wednesday. In other action concerning the Nebraska Union, Swanson reported the effect of the $32,000 rent fee from the Union Book store will be an estimated 90 cent decrease in student fee support for the union. Swanson also expressed displeasure with the thefts of art exhibits in the union lobby. "We are studying the possibility of alarm systems," Swanson said. "Under standably so, artists simply do not want to continue to risk their paintings. I would like to know if it is one person ripping us off, or if it's a group." It also was introduced by board mem ber Frank Kuhn that there should be alter nate locations for the bulletin boards that will be removed due to the renovation of the Crib. The new areas agreed to as possible new locations are the three pillars in the main lounge, the wall where the south desk used to be, and the current location of the glass display case in which are kept photographs of ASUN and Union Board members. This would be replaced with a smaller, lighted board for the most important announce ments. The lighted sign board outside the union and the vandalism to it last week also were discussed. Board member Bob Moline suggested it be removed because of the distraction to passersby and what he said was vast stu dent disapproval. The meeting was the last before new board members take office in two weeks. f h Special Tfaaimks Y o a l2Slf AlphaPhi(Champ ons) Delta Upsilon Farmhouse (Champions) Fiji Acacia Kappa Alpha Theta Alpha Chi Omega Kappa Delta Alpha Omega Pi Kappa Kappa Gamma Alpha Tau Omega Kappa Sigma Alpha Xi Delta Phi Kappa Psi Chi Omega Sigma Alpha Mu Delta Delta Delta Theta Xi The above houses contributed 41,360 cans to the Alpha Gamma Rho Pi Beta Phi "Bury the Sooners" can-paign sponsored by the Miller Brewing Company and K&Z Distributing.
