The Cornhuskers placed second in the five-team meet with 451 points. Southern Illinois was first with 454 points. Kansas placed third with 379, followed by Iowa State and Minnesota with 284 and 1 99, respectively. "I feel that we have worked hard and our team is be ginning to gain confidence in what they are doing," Bentz said. "They are realizing that they can control their own performances." Tim Boyd won the 200-meter freestyle for the Huskers with a time of 1:43. 15. Steve Elliot was the only other Nebraskan to win an event, lie won the three-meter diving event with 524.70 points. Nebraska diving captain Dave Kcane said he was pleased with the team's showing against what he consider ed to be tough competition. "We went against one of the best divers in the nation from Southern Illinois," Keene said. "The best thing we did in this meet was that we never gave up." Although pleased with the performance, diving coach Jeff Iluber said there is still room for improvement. "We've done better as an entire team," Huber said. "We did show a lot of improvements that we've been working on. "We've got some tough meets coming up. Huskers at 7-7 after loss to OSU The Nebraska basketball team dropped to 1-1 in con ference play and 7-7 overall Saturday with an 81-70 loss to Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. The Cowboys took control early in the game and open ed up a 41-26 lead at halftime. Nebraska had trouble slowing down the tempo of the game after the intermis sion and never narrowed the gap to less than eight points. Andre Smith led Nebraska with 20 points, followed by Jack Moore with 16. Smith fouled out with 7:22 remain ing in the game. Matt Clark led Oklahoma State with 25 points. The win left the Cowboys at 2-0 in the Big Eight and 12-2 overall. The Huskers will face Colorado in Lincoln Wednesday. Tip-off has been moved to 8: 10 p.m. to allow for regional television coverage. Janet Smith scored 20 points and Kathy Hager strom added 19 in an 87-84 win against Oklahoma State. The Cornhuskers lost to 15th-ranked Kansas State in the opening round of the tournament. 78-76. Friday, UNL lost to Iowa State. 82-81. The Nebraska women's gymnastics team placed second in the Minnesota Invitational Saturday with a score of 127.25. Minnesota won the meet with 130.4 points. Iowa State was third with 118.75, and Wisconsin-Madison was fourth with 1 14.8 Kim Grabowski placed first in vaulting and first on the uneven bars. She was also third in all-around competition.
