"It doesn't sound very dramatic, but if you've got facts to back you up, you can make your point," he said. Bahar said the approach is convincing the administration to take significant steps to solve salary problems. "I think the budget reflected that sal aries were one of the highest priorities," Bahar said. Creswell agreed with Bahar's estimate of the administration's concern for the pay level at UNL. He said administrators are trying harder now to make the university more attract ive to faculty. daily nebraskan page 15 He also praised UNL Interim Chancellor Robert Rutford as being "budget con cious" and willing to reallocate extra funds for salaries. One administrator, Ned Hedges, vice chancellor of academic affairs, is an official who illustrates the administration's aware ness of the salary discrepancy. "Any kind of comparison that I've ever seen would indicate that faculty salaries at UNL are not competitive and are below what they ought to be," Hedges said. For the last 10 years, UNL has lagged behind the inflation rate, according to Hedges. "It's a matter of history. The notion is that the cost of living is lower here than in most places. Therefore, not as much mon ey is needed," Hedges said. Regents to study change in football ticket policy , The NU Board of Regents Friday will discuss adopting a new student football ticket policy. The board in October instructed NU President Ronald Roskens to come up with a new policy. Some regents said that students should be allowed to transfer the tickets be cause the present non-transferable policy is unenforceable. Some also said the price of student tickets should be increased to equal the general-admission price. A public hearing on proposed guidelines for the student press also will be Friday. In October the regents appointed a committee to propose guidelines that would separate the Daily Nebraskan from all political bodies. The committee has proposed that a panel of student advisory board members select UNL Publications Board members instead of ASUN. The committee also has pro posed rigid requirements on who can be on the Publica tions Board. The recommendations have been criticized by some student leaders. ASUN has adopted a motion opposing them. Student leaders have said the guidelines take away authority that should be the student government's. PLEASE GIVE ! American Diabetes Assn.
