Chris Esk ridge said UNL currently offers an entire undergraduate program. He said a student can graduate at UNL after four years with a degree in criminal justice. Eskridge said the the problem apparently occurr ed because 10 years ago, UNL students were forced to go to UNO to finish their degree. "But we've brought ev erything here since then," Eskridge said. He added that the program was growing rapidly. "The number of students is up roughly, 150 from last year," Eskridge said. Nearly Music festival scheduled at Union College A music festival featuring professional groups and ta lent from high schools in a nine-state area will culmi nate with special concerts Saturday at Union College. The Odyssey Brass Quin tet will perform in a convo cation at 10 ajm. Thursday in the college auditorium, 3800 S. 48th. The group features musicians with ex perience playing in the Boston Symphony, St. Paul Symphony and the New Orleans Symphony, and a repertoire spanning five cen turies of time. At 4 p.m. Saturday, the festival band and choir will perform in a sacred concert in the College View Church, Prescott and S. 48th streets. The program will feature "Chorale and Processional" by Rex Mitchell, and "Am brosian Hymn Variants" by Donald H.White. The two groups will again combine Saturday night at 8 p.m. for a secular concert in the Union Col lege Auditorium. "Burst of Flame March" by Richard W. Bowles and "Variations on a Shaker Melody" from Aaron Copeland's "Appala chian Spring" are among the works scheduled. The number has increas ed Eskridge said, as has die number of job possibilities. "The job market is abso lutely booming," he said. "There are 50-60 different potential jobs, from work ing in the courts, and coun seling, to work in law en forcement," he said. Eskridge said that many E degrees students use criminal justice to prepare for other degrees and work, such as law school. Eskridge said the crimin al justice department is J.w ided into five parts. "One is the quantitative methodology, another is criminal law, third is cor rections . and institutions, number four is behavioral criminology, and last, the rrr? The program also allows the students to travel, Eskridge said, noting recent trips to institutions at Leavenworth and San Quentin. r The department also of fers internships. Eskridge said he hopes to attract more students to the department and also hopes more faculty mem bers are added to cover the growing number of students. He also said that master's degree courses are now of fered at UNL, although a student must go to UNO to get the master's degree.
